Fairy lands are fearsome too!

'Dedication'
Zembla, Zenda, Xanadu:
All our dream-worlds may come true.
Fairy lands are fearsome too.
As I wander far from view
Read, and bring me home to you.
Salman Rushdie

Spells out the name of Rushdie's son "Zafar". I think I am, as a rule, biased against authors who derive their fame from sources other than their writing. This one is part of his book "Haroun and the sea of stories. Interesting how the Fatwa actually turned out to be beneficial for him and made him the celebrity that his writing could not have.

'Separation'
Your absence has gone through me
Like thread through a needle.
Everything I do is stitched with its color.
W.S. Merwin

The way I love poems. Short, original idea, gracefully written and thought provoking. It's a nice way of looking at seperation, as something which can colour your life, fill it rather than make it hollow and that nice ending which says forgetting or denying is not important rather let it be a part of you, one colour of the many which make you.

'Untitled'
I wish I could drink like a lady
I can take one or two at the most
Three and I'm under the table
Four and I'm under the host
Dorothy Parker

Finally a poem written by a lady(sort of) who is clear about her priorities in life. One cannot carry guilt and drinks at the same time, its better to choose one. If you drink dont be sorry but make sure you know what you are getting into.
